What Prognosis Is Recommended For Hemochromatosis?

My daughter has been diagnosed with hemacomotosis (sp?). She is also a heavy drinker. She had an ultrasound and belly tap yesterday. She is not very forthcoming with information about ongoing treatment. What are the next steps she should be taking to treat this condition?

Hello,

In hemochromatosis liver already affected by iron accumulation and you are a heavy drinker. So you might have chronic liver disease or cirrhosis for which tapping done. I need to know your reports for giving more comment.

For hemochromatosis, if the iron is very much high, then phlebotomy is needed, or another mode of therapy is iron chelator that is desferrioxamine like a drug.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami
