What Programmes Are Required In Schizophrenia Case ?

..i have a 21 year old son who has paranoid schysopheona..he needs me to be at home to ake vare of him..but i have a fool time job...he has been like this since he was 14...are there any programs that can help me care for him at home...

Hi, Thanks for the query. May I know in which country you are staying at present & what medications are given to your son? In India, very few rehabilitation facilities like day care centers, half way homes, sheltered care projects etc. are available & that too at bigger centers like Bangalore, Chandigarh, Bhopal, Delhi etc. Depending upon expertise of the personnel running these centers & motivation on part of patient & family; various useful skills like how to interact with people (social skills), simple work tasks like cup making, weaving, making various articles, repairs etc. are taught to patient which helps them to earn money & reintegrate in society. These are usually long & costly pro grammes. You can get information from your mental health provider depending upon your location or log on to useful resources like NAMI (National alliance against mental illness)
