Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I used to take 100 mg ms contin post auto accident and discectomy three times per day.Has the law changed or is it still allowed to be taken 3 times per day? It seams to work really well, better than anything else, but they are being prescribed once every twelve hours, and I have a lapse at 8 or 10 hours. What is the law in Michigan? my pain is controlled so much better with this drug than any other, but they say its a 12 hour drug, and my older prescription of the same strength says three times a day.Did the law change or is it just the doctors discretion? Thank You very much,Lee
I think it is not related to law issues, but to the side effects of ms contin. You can take other medications like NSAIDs to reduce the pain between the allowed 12 hours until you get the next pill.
This is for your own good, to get free of pain and keep healthy at the same time without bad side effects or addiction problems (which can make things worse).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wish you the best recovery.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
