What Relieves The Sharp Pain In The Throat Due To Red Circumvallate?

For a week I have had just one, red circumvallate which is causing me to have a very sharp pain when I swallow, touch it or suck. I can see it if I stick my tongue right out. It REALLY hurts now, most of the time I am 48, female, non smoker who eats a relatively low fat diet and drinks plenty of water. A bit concerned. Any suggestions please?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that thee is inflammation of the circumvallate papilla which can be either due to infection or due to eating some hot food stuff or very hot fluid leading to inflammation and there can be secondary bacterial infection also along with inflammation..

You need not to worry and take Amoxicillin 500 mg thrice a day for 5 days.
Take Ibuprofen 400 mg thrice a day for relieving pain and inflammation..
Do warm saline gargles..
Gargle with a numbing solution can be relieving especially during meals..
Avoid hot, spicy and hard foods and take a soft and cool diet..
Sucking ice pops can relieve..

In case if the condition does not resolve consult an oral physician and get evaluated..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
