What Relieves The Swelling And Pain In The Joint Of Middle Finger?

I took a pretty good hit to my index finger in a softball game about 4 weeks ago I still can't bend my middle joint hardly at all and it is quite swollen the pain seems to be in the areas around the joint what should I be doing how long will it take to heal?
