What Rib Cage Pain And Bruised Feeling In Throat After Dry-swallowing A Pill?
I frequently take pills without water and am wondering if this is having a negative effect. I feel like about halfway down my ribcage and on is weighted. Also feels like there s a dull pain, like when you lightly press a bruise, in the middle of my throat. Could not taking water with pills cause this? How can I make it stop?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
HI, I understand your query. Actually swallowing pills dry is not a good practice. IT is natural to cause bruise to the throat, esophagus... also may cause burning in the food passage. But it is not likely to cause pain/ heaviness in rib cage. You should consult a chest physician, get examined, investigated & diagnosed . Proper diagnosis & specific treatment would help you. Thanks.
