What Risks Would I Be Running Into, If I Discontinue The Anti Rabies Injection?
Hi, I got bitten my a dog in Ahmedabad, gujerat, India two days ago. As I am not already immunised, at the hospital, i was given a tetanus jag and a rabbies jag (rabipur). the doctor recommended that I continue a course of 5 jags over the next 4 weeks. I feel like it's unlikely that the dog was rabid as it only bit me in retaliation when i accidentally stepped on its paw and ran away straight away. what risks would i be running if i discontinue the jags?
Hi, Welcome to Health care magic forum. If it is a stray dog, and you can't find it again, it is a must to have all the 5 injections, according to the plan given in the programme of the vaccination in the brochure given with the injection. If you can find it in your locality, observe it for 15 days and if it is alive and healthy you can skip the shots. If it is a pet and got vaccinated recently also you can skip the shots. If it dies in this period for what ever the reason like accedent, you must have the full course of the injections. Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
