What S The Most Accurate Test To Determine The Source Of Loss Of Blood In A Person With Low CBC?

My husband had a very low CBC that has reoccurred off and on for several years. He has been seen by several different doctors with no definite reason.this week he was hospitalized for low cbc with extreme weakness and tiredness, pale etc. he has 3 units of blood and his count rose only to 9. Now his symptoms are back and it has only been 2 days. There is no indication the loss is gastrointestinal. What would be the most accurate and speediest test for determine where he is losing blood?

Geriatrics Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
After looking at the clinical history, I can advise a few methods
1. Radionuclide scan
2. Angiography with multi detector row CT scan.
3. Three phase helical CT using intravenous contrast

However, reticulocyte count needs to be evaluated for increase to confirm hemorrhage.

Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
