HI.. My name is Jay and I am from Toronto. My sister is diagnosed with type 3 chiari malformation. a very rare disease based on the doctors explanation. The doctors advised my sister for immediate surgery and I would like to know the survival rate of the surgery and possible prognosis after an operation.. Please help me know about it..

After going through your medical query I understand your concern and I would like to tell you that yes your sister is suffering with very rare disease and as spine is connected too she should undergo surgery. Death risk is definitely involved but consult a good neurologist and neurosurgeon for proper guidance.
