What Should I Do After Inhaling A Small Piece Of Pasta Causing Discomfort In Chest?

Two days ago I inhaled a small piece of pasta. I can feel an odd sensation in my chest, right side, and what seems like the right side of my throat. It is very similar to when I'm having mild sport-induced-asthma symptoms, except only on oneside. Should I go see my doctor, or wil my body just absorb the food?

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your situation and problem.
You are having foreign body (piece of pasta) aspiration.
And by no means this thing is going to absorb in your body.
You need to get it removed as soon as possible.
Foreign body aspiration is more common in right side because right sided bronchus is wider, straight and more in line with trachea.
And you are also having symptoms more on right side. So possibility of right sided aspiration is high.
Foreign body causes local site inflammatory reaction. So lumen will be blocked and hence distal collapse of lung is seen.
This is the reason for chest discomfort and breathlessness.
So better to consult pulmonologist immediately and get done bronchoscopic evaluation and removal of foreign body.
Hope I have solved your query
I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
