Hi,

According to your history, as usually ovulation will not occur during the time of periods, so the possibility of pregnancy is less in case of regular 28 to 30 days of menstrual cycles. Emergency contraceptive pills contain high doses of progesterone in it, because of that it can lead to the withdrawal bleeding in few days after taking the tablet. So, the first period from 5th to 8th can be taken as normal periods and from 12th the bleeding should be considered as withdrawal bleeding due to the withdrawal effect of the emergency contraceptive pill on the uterine endometrium.

Usually this bleeding may continue for a few days and will stop without the need of any treatment. If it continues for more than one week better to consult your gynecologist once and take tablets to stop the bleeding. As emergency contraceptive pills can alter the menstrual cycles better to restrict the use of them and there should be at least 2 month gap between two emergency contraceptive pills to avoid the irregularity in menstrual cycles.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sree Gouri S. R., OBGYN
