What Should I Do To Get Relief From Headache Having Diagnosed With Depression And On Cymbalta Once Daily?

My friend is under doctor s care for Depression. He is taking Cymbalta 60mg one time daily right now for approximately two weeks. With doctor approval He lowered the dosage to 30 mg one time daily for a few weeks. He felt himself slipping back into depression. Doctor increased the dosage to 60 mg one time daily. He has been in bed not feeling well and complaining of a headache from the back of his head for at least 3-4 days. Anything he can do to get rid of the headache now? He is going to call his doctor tomorrow.

Hi,

It is possible that the head ache is due to the sudden increase in dose from 30 mg per day to 60 mg per day as all anti-depressants can cause head ache as a side effect. Please ask him not to worry. This head ache will improve in a few days as the body gets adjusted to the new dose. Till then he can use over the counter analgesics like paracetamol for pain relief. He should also get his blood pressure checked, to ensure that he is not hypertensive.

Best wishes.
