What Should I Do To Keep My Blood Pressure Levels Low?

I suffered a heart attack in the middle of March, had 5-way bypass surgery, went thru cardiac rehab at the hospital & was put on 3 kinds of b/p meds.......Clonidine (0.2 mg), 2x/day, Lisinopril (40mg) 1x/day and Metoprolol (75mg) 1x/day. In the past few weeks, my b/p has been running quite high in the mornings. Yesterday, it was 194/97. I am 72, 5 9 & weigh 220 lbs. I have an appt with my cardiologist tomorrow morning. What should he do to keep my b/p low overnight? Thank you, Lynda E.

Hi,

You may be suffering from resistant hypertension may need to be evaluated for secondary causes of hypertension. Use diuretics and vasodilators to reduce hypertension. May need to check your kidney function or left ventricular hypertrophy or microalbuminuria, etc.

Take low salt diet, regular exercise, avoid counter acting medication. Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
