What Should Be Done For Burnt Tongue After Sodium Hydroxide Hit The Tongue?
My fiance had an incident with some sodium hydroxide last night. He was cleaning the bathroom then the chemical made a splash and hit his tongue. His tongue is very burned. He didn t swallow any of it and gargled milk immediately (he read that in an article online) What can we do?
Hi, if there is no respiratory problem because of edema of the tongue, please do frequent rinses of the oral cavity with saline or very dilute hexidine and the area should heal. If there is respiratory difficulty, see an ENT. You may need an analgesic for the pain if any. Regards
