What Should Be The Diet For High Cholesterol And High Blood Pressure?
my husband had a mild heart attack. He is overweight. taking meds for high cholesterol and BP..we want to make changes in our eating habits. What are the biggest changes we have to make or what things we need to avoid to get better and to have a better life style..thanks so much..
Hi Dietary modifications are very important In hypertension and hyperlipidemia. Diet should contain a very low level of salt ( Less than 7 gm of salt per day), free from saturated fatty acids and trans fatty acids. Complex carbohydrate should also be low because it will get converted in to triglycerides ( a bad cholesterol). Diet should aim at weight reduction.
Just like diet, regular exercise is also very important.
