What Should Be The Frequency Of Blood Transfusions?
How often can a patient receive a blood transfusion? My cousin has mesothelioma and his white blood count has skyrocketed. He received a transfusion and another 11 days later. Now he s getting another one tomorrow 5 days later. Is there a danger in two frequent transfusions? We assume this is indicative of the seriousness of his situation that his body is not producing red blood cells. Thank you
The frequency of blood transfusion decided according to HB and RBC value as well as clinic picture....
Your bone marrow might be infiltrated by tumour cells and might not producing enough rbc or there might be ongoing bleeding for which you are given transfusion...
You have not mentioned which component transfusion given mostly it will be RCC...
So as such depending on patient condition transfusion given...
Take care
Follow your treating oncosurgeon advise
Hope this will help
