What Should Be The Ideal Blood Calcium Level In Body?

Good morning, I have a friend who is telling me she has elevated calcium levels (she said it's a 12 when it should be no more than 5) and is being urged by her doctor to prepare for surgery on/around her parathyroid gland(s). What should a blood calcium level be...and does this even make sense to you?

normal serum calcium level is 9 to 11 mg/dl. more than 11 is abnormal. yes ofcourse it make sense that calcium level is 12. its obviously high. but there are many causes of hypercalcemia and parathyroid abnormality is one of them. so investigste properly that what is the cause of that high calcium level. and check that have you any other abnormality or not and then take treatment accordingly.
