What Should Be The Ideal Weight In The Third Trimester Of Pregnancy?
hello dr . myself shalley nd iam 8 months pregnant . my due date is 21 Jan that is given by my doctor. my weight before pregnancy was 55 kg . nd now my weight is 65 kg only 10 kg increment . I want to know what should be the ideal weight during this period . is my baby healthy or not . I am so worried about my baby Health. how can I increase my weight.
It was previously thought that women needed to gain a lot of weight during pregnancy. This has now been shown not to be the case. Often excess or unnecessary weight is gained which is then difficult to lose after delivery. Women of normal weight for their height (normal bmi) are suppose to gain approximately 25 to 30 pounds, women who are overweight or obese 15 to 25 pounds and underweight women need to gain 28 to 40 pounds. You have gained 22 pounds, which is fine unless your doctor indicates otherwise.
During pregnancy, the doctor normally monitors the growth of babies by measuring the abdomen and also by occasional ultrasounds. They would also normally assess the baby's heart beat as well. If this has been done during your pregnancy and no problem has been noted, then everything should be okay.
I hope this helps and wish you and baby the best. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
