What Should Be The Normal Values For Sonogram Analysis During Pregnancy?
I m 23 weeks pregnant..all sonograms before were fine..the one for today showed the following BPD 5.7cm 23 w 3 days HC 21.4cm 23 w 3days AC 19.1cm 23 w 5days FL 3.84 cm 22w 2 days all looks normal except for the FL (femur length) FL/BPd ratio was 0.67 which normal is (0.73-0.83) I m a bit worried..
I understand your concern and I will do everything I can to answer your question.
I read all the obstetric ultrasounds for my practice and can almost guarantee you everything is ok. If you go to the doctor and they check your height and weight every day, the measurements will be almost exactly the same over the course of a week (maybe 1/4 inch or 1 pound discrepancy measurement to measurement. Ultrasound measurements are not perfect. They have actually done this research: if you do one ultrasound each day for a week the measurements in the second trimester are off by up to two weeks. The baby stretches and curls up, the technician gets a better quality picture because the baby's position has changed: the error rate of an ultrasound measurement is up to two weeks.
The femur length measuring one week smaller is much more likely to be a measurement inaccuracy rather than a sign that the baby isn't growing correctly. Also, just as some adults are tall and some are short, some babies have slightly shorter legs than others: nothing wrong very slightly shorter than average.
I hope that helps and best of luck to you
