What Support Does A Patient Diagnosed With Lymphoma Need?
A client has been diagnosed with Lymphoma of the bones.Last week she had to attend for ct scan and mri of the shoulder and humerus. Has been told she may need biopsy there also.would this be looking for the primary and what she we be planning on expecting support wise?
Hello and welcome to HCM, A lymphoma of bones can be arising from the bones or may have metastasized from some other site. A biopsy along with immunohistochemistry are required to typify the lymphoma. Once the type of lymphoma is determined by these investigations, appropriate treatment will be started. Treatment of lymphoma is primarily with chemotherapy. The prognosis of lymphoma and response to treatment will depend on the type of lymphoma. During this whole process, nutrition of the patient needs to be maintained well. Supportive and emotional support also needs to be given.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
