What Tests Can Confirm Total Cure From TB After 6 Months Of Treatment And Why Is Contrast CT Required?

SIR MY FATHER WAS DIAGONISED FOR TB AND HAS COMPLETED HIS 6 MONTHS MEDICATIONS OF ISONIDE,RIMAFACIN,BENODON ETC .. CORSE FOR NEARLY 7 MONTHS.DR.HAS CLEARED HEZ ALLRIGHT BUT ASKED TO TAKE CONTRAST CT THROX WHY?? WHY BENODON WAS GIVEN?. ANY OTHER TESTS TO CHECK IF HESTOTALLY CURED LIKE, SKIN TEST ETC,..?

Thanks for your question on HCM. You should get done sputum for AFB after treatment completion. If it is negative than you can assure of free from TB. And chest x ray is sufficient to see improvement. CT is also a tool but if chest x ray is improving than no need for CT. If chest x ray is not improving, rather worsening than CT is must. And benadon is pyridoxin. It is vit b 6.Inh can cause peripheral neuropathy due to decrease in b6 level. So to avoid this one can take prophylactic b 6 along with AKT. There is no harm in it.
