What To Do For A Dog Bite?

My son was bitten by a friend s dog yesterday on his wrist and hand (one bite). The dog is current on all shots. The puncture was cleaned with peroxide and treated with anti bacterial ointment. The bite itself looks fine today, but the wrist feels tender and is somewhat reddened. What do we need to watch for? He says the redness was caused by a too tight bandage, but I am nervous. He is an adult with probationary insurance not yet in effect, so not anxious to see a doctor.

Hello, Sad to hear about your son. If I am your consulting doctor I assure you that nothing would happen to your son because the dog had given all the shots. Also I think dog is in you observation since many times so there are no signs of rabies in it. The bite your son has should be taken care of in terms of infections that you have already started your treatment. I advice you to give one T.T shot to your child which I think you have not given. I also not advice you to go for stiching because it will aggravate the chance of rabies. Also keep the wound open, that will imporove your wound healing. If you have any further querry please contact me Dr. Arun TAnk Thanks.
