What To Do For A Posterior Left Cerebral Hemispheric Subcentimeter Neuroglial Cyst And A Possiblity Of Chronic Small Vessel Ischemic Disease?

I had an MRI done in 2014 due to onset of Migraines. The results are listed below. There was no identifiable reason for the migraines except excessive neck pain that I have. I have seen a PT on and off for the past 3 years. Severe neck stiffness and pain seem to be the link to my headaches. I eventually was diagnosed with perimenopause and placed on HRT. Recently I was taken off HRT as doctors looked for different causes for my symptoms. Bloodwork indicates Hashimoto as antibodies are greater than 900. Posterior left cerebral hemispheric subcentimeter neuroglial cyst. Benign variant. Subtle 2 mm focus of T2 signal abnormality in the subcortical white matter of the inferior lateral aspect left inferior frontal lobule. Two 1-2 mm foci of increased T2 signal abnormality within the anterior central aspect of the right frontal lobe. Small foci of increased T2 signal in the juxtacortical and subcortical white matter of the medial aspects of both superior frontal lobules. No corpus callosal abnormalities. No additional areas of T2 signal abnormality. This pattern of white matter T2 prolongation is commonly seen in the setting of chronic small vessel ischemic disease, particularly in patients with hypertension and/or diabetes. However, they are nonspecific and can also be seen with small vessel vasculopathy (including migraine), vasculopathy, prior infection, granulomatous disease and in demyelination. The remainder of the examination is unremarkable.

Hello,

A subcentimetric neuroglial cyst is a benign structure, however, it can cause pressure on surrounding structures if size increases. Chronic small vessel ischemia disease can be seen in hypertension, diabetes or any other vascular disease.I suggest you to get a general health check up to management of any co-morbid condition.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
