What To Do For Hashimotos?

I have hashimotos. My endo only prescribes Tirosint and feels that if my thyroid levels are fine I should feel fine. Of course this is not true, so I try to research ways to feel better on my own. I drink kefir, have gone gluten free, and take slelnium and vitamin D. One of the most annoying symptoms is extreme edema in my legs, hands, and abdomen. I drink pedialyte. What else can I do? Should I ask for a diuretic? What kind?

Hi,
Being a Hashimotos' patient, you may have some symptoms remained even when your thyroid levels are normal. Diuretics do not help in thyroid related edema, so i would not recommend them.
Edema could be altogether due to a different cause. I recommend you to check for Hemogram, serum albumen, urine analysis, liver scan and kidney tests. other autoimmune conditions like SLE and diabetes(I) can also coexist, which should be kept in mind.
You may consult a physician for full evaluation. All the best.
