What To Do For Irregular Periods And Constipation?

I am 44 years old and have had a lifelong problem with painful periods and constipation. The majority of my bowel movements have been during the premenstrual time of the month. Within the last year the pms bowel movements do not happen and it appears if I don't take a laxative I don't get a period.
