What To Do For Noticing Veins On Leg, Feet And Hands With History Of Varicose On Leg?

Hi I have had a varicose on my right leg since 1984 second pregnancy, about 1992 I had surgery and everything was fine. Last couple of years the vein has become a lot worse plus my left leg also has a vein, recently I have lost 32kgs and I've noticed veins in my feet and also both hands. Please what can be done?

Hi,

If the veins are similar to the one of varicose veins, I'd strongly suggest to consult an angiologist and to run Echo Doppler of the blood vessels in the leg to evaluate the situation further.

Otherwise, the noticeable veins could be related to recent weight loss.

Meanwhile, I suggest to
- wear elastic pressure stockings
- do not stay standing or sitting for long periods of time; take your legs raised up to improve circulation
- start taking baby aspirin on daily basis
- apply local heparin cream

All the best!
