What To Do For Soreness And Numbness In Arm?

My left arm gets sore during the day and sometimes goes a little numb. I just noticed I have a very sore spot on the outside of the muscle about 1/2 between my elbow and shoulder. It has been sore for at least a week. Is this just some sort of pinched nerve etc? what can i do?
