Hi there, my daughter is 18 years old she just had her 20 week ultrasound and the Dr. Told her it showed white spots on babies liver. :,( I told her not to worry her baby will be fine, but being a mom and I am also pregnant about to pop I am worried about what this is and how my grandson is doing?? Please help me understand . She said Dr. Gave her 3possibilities of what it can be. One being DS which her test for that was 1 in a 1000 but she forgot what the other two could be... Thank you
Few white spots on liver at this gestational age is something not to be worried, if everything else is normal. Let us be confident at this point of time and picture will be more clear on a send ultrasound 4-6 weeks later- where we can assess the overall growth rate of the baby and whether the said lesions are resolving or progressing.
Such findings can be seen in conditions like (which you need not worry now) trisomy 21, congenital infections, and very rarely neoplasms. Your doctor will discuss in more details during coming visits.
