My Mom was diagnosed on Feb 25th with stage four lung cancer. A large tumor in the lung was leaning up against a rib and has now infected the second rib.
She is half way through 10 radiation treatments, and they want to start chemo on the 14th. I am not sure it is worth the devastating effects of chemo to put her through that. Would I be better off telling her to skip chemo to keep her at a better quality of life?
Your mom is suffering from stage 4 lung cancer. Aim of treatment during this stage is palliative chemotherapy with basic supportive care. With palliative chemotherapy basic quality of life will improve and average survival time is from 6 to 9 months. Regards DR DE
