What To Do For The Soreness And Swelling In The Throat?
Good evening.. I have what I believe is a Large canker sore in the very back of my throat (Either near or on the tonsil). I have had it for about 4 weeks but went to doctor who prescribed a 10 day dose of Antibiotics. This seems to have reduced the ulcer but it is still not completely gone which surprises me. I have no pain and only very slight discomfort when I swallow. I have no fever and everything else feels normal. Is a follow up necessary considering the length of time ive had this now?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of soreness and swelling in the throat which is due to leftover chronic infection or it could be due to infection of tonsils. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles on daily basis. You should take antibiotic amoxicillin in combination with anti allergic medication. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. Avoid oily and sharp food. Drink plenty of fluids. You should get throat swab test done and start treatment after proper diagnosis. You should avoid cold carbonated beverages and take throat lozenges.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
