What To Do If Having Severe Headache Which Deepens After Sudden Movement In Head?

Hi, I am 16 years old and don t normally suffer from headaches or any other illness and have general good health. However for the past 3 days I have had a severe headache that feels like a constant brain freeze and it won t budge, which is very painful. My vision has not been affected but the headache deepens in pain after sudden movement of my head. I have been very stressed lately as have exams at school, could this be a factor and should I go and see my doctor?

Hi thanks for posting on HCM, Yes, psychological tension is a well known and fairly a very common cause for headaches. because you didn't have a long history of headcahe its unlikely to be migranine. however because headache increases with movement of head , sinusitis is a very likely possibility. Sinusitis headache is like the headache you describe here and usually constant through out the day. Do you have any early morning vomiting, wekaness of legs or arms, fainstishness? all of which indicate more serious pathologies than sinusitis. I suggest you to take some NSAIDs analgesic like ibuprofen if you are not allergic and do some steam inhalation twice a day for 2 to 3 days. If above won't settle your headache then its advisable to go to a doctor. In the mean time do some relaxing activities like listening to a mild classical music, meditation or any other activity which make you relaxed. Good sleep is also a key factor to relieve headaches. thank you.
