What To Do To Reduce Phlegm And Respiration Problems?
hello
My father is bedridden recently had a stroke
and currently he is not responding I mean not speaking . From past 15 days we were in hospital and got discharged. He seems to have phlem and have problem in respiration
Wanted to know what ca be done to reduce this phlem . We are doing position change and give mild exercise
He should be propped up when in bed.In addition the use of a mucolytic to decrease the viscosity of the secretions would help. Examples are bisolvan, acetylcysteine, guiafenesin (found in robotussin , hytuss), aeroflux.
Light tapping on his back may also be helpful.
You may want to rule out infection by having him assessed by his doctor particularly if he is having a problem breathing.
I hope this helps
