What To Do When Previously Placed Clip During Breast Biopsy Goes Missing?

Hi, I had a breast biopsy 6 weeks ago, they put in surgical clip to mark the spot. I recently had a mastectomy and the clip was no where to be found. My surgeon said he is not sure where it is, could of fallen when transferring breast tissue. I am worried as I have/had DCIS, and if there are DCIS cells on clip and it wandered, what should I do? Get a chest x ray?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Nothing much to worry because you had already underwent complete mastectomy, so the presence of clip is not significant.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
