What Treatment Is Suggested For Bump (pimple) Around The Ankles ?

I’m a 69 years old male.
Problem started about 14 to 27 days ago. Very small pimple like bumps about one-half cm round formed around my ankles, just above the ankle bone. Bumps were white to pink and itched a little. I generally spend about 2 hours a day in the community pool, so long as the air temperature is 60 or warmer. About 10 day ago the bumps seemed to get larger and itched more. I noticed that the water did seem to aggravate the condition. About 9 – 10 days ago I applied CALAMINE Lotion for the first time. The lotion seemed to dry the bump and cause it to enlarge to about one cm. The bumps are now white in the center and pink to red around the perimeter. They look like a blister that broke and is drying. I stayed out of the pool for several days. When I went back into the pool, the water seemed to aggravate the bumps by making them itch more. Again I stayed out of the water for 4 to 5 days. I went into the water on December 26 and 27. Again bumps reacted to the water and after the being in the water on the 27th I developed more small bumps on arms, back and chest. The bumps itch but not all the time. Scratching the bumps makes them itch more. I did not apply Calamine Lotion. I asked a pharmacy if he had an idea of what the bumps are and what OTC medication I might use. I was told it might be a fungus and to try an antifungal cream having Clotrimazole. I used it several times on my ankles and once on my arm. It seems the cream did not help. I also noticed, since the 27th, that my nipples came erect and sensitive to touch.

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

After going through your query i would keep a possibility of Lichen planus, which frequently presents as itchy papules which may be erythematous to begin with but later turn purple and are commonly located at shins and ankle, flexor wrists, abdomen etc.

I usually ask my patients of Lichen planus to apply a potent topical steroid ointment for 2-4 weeks.

An oral antihistamine relieves the itching associated with.

A course of oral steroids may be needed in a few patients if new lesions keep developing.

take care
regards
