Hi my mother had the following done a week ago, and a core biopsy on Friday. Waiting for the biopsy results in a few days. Could you pls explain in simple terms the following meaning:
BILATERAL BREAST ULTRASOUND
This confirms the presence of an irregular lobulated hypoechoic solid 6mm
mass in the left breast at 11o'clock, 5cm from the nipple which corresponds
to the mammographic density. There is no substantial internal vascularity
on colour Doppler but this lesion is highly suspicious for a primary
carcinoma and ultrasound guided core biopsy is recommended.
There is a 1cm echogenic nodule in the left breast at 3o'clock in keeping
with a lipoma and there is minor right sided retroareolar duct ectasia.
Otherwise, only normal fibroglandular stroma was seen in both breasts.
A solitary normal appearing non-enlarged lymph node was demonstrated in the
left axillary region.
