What Treatment Is Suggested For Protein In Urine ?
I urinate visible blood , sometimes for a short time and sometimes for a couple of days. I also feel and can see a blob come when I urinate, on occasion, when the blood is present. This has been going on for about 5 years. I have been to doctors and have been diagnosed with protein in my urine and was diagnosed as diabetic. However, I was re-diagnosed and found not to be diabetic. I was also diagnosed with the kidney filters being damaged but after the re-diagnosis of diabetes nothing was said about it again. I have gone to the doctor many times because of the visible blood and occasional pain and was told everything from my back is out to hormonal changes. Naturally, I gave up. The last few days I have had trouble urinating then this morning a big blob with much blood came out and I can urinate normally again. What is your diagnosis?
Protein in urine might be due to lot of reasons like 1. Urinary tract infection 2. Heavy exercise 3. Nephropathy 4. Metabolic disorders.
But most commonly it is due to diabetic nephropathy if the duration of the diabetes is long standing.
The treatment suggested depends upon the cause of proteinuria. If it is due to diabetes then ACE inhibitors like enalapril and ramipril is suggested, in highest tolerating doses.
Thanks
