What Treatment Is Suggested For Yeast Infection?

Hi,

I have been treated for a yeast infection with a flucozanole tablet (single dose) treatment and have used a prescribed steriod cream for 6 weeks. After one more week, my penis has a sticky feel to it when foreskin is retreacted. Also the end of the glad around where I pee from there is a slight redness. Plus around the base of the penis head gland (where the foreskin bunches) the glans is a purple color. I have had no pains or itching, just these different symptoms.

After intercourse, for the first time in a while since i finished treatment and before the above symptoms returned, I also had some small red areas on my foreskin only visible when retracted. These may be unrelated and caused by overstretching my foreskin during intercourse or they may be part of the above problem.

What can I do to help heal the area? Use the same creame again? Bath in salt water? Wash penis head with Apple cider vinegar watered down? Take another Flucozanole tablet? I have been struggling with this problem for so long now and it is really starting to affect my day to day life making me depressed. Please help.

Thanks,
Michael

OBGYN, Maternal and Fetal Medicine 's  Response
Hi,

I would suggest you take itraconazole tablet 200 mg, 1 tablet weekly for 4 weeks, and apply a steroid based anti-fungal ointment for 14 days, and get your blood sugar test done.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
