What Treatment Should Be Given At Home If Left Hand Is A Little Burnt After Cylinder Explosion?
Hello! I My name is Tara. My husband was grilling burgers last nite and there was a leak in the butane cylinder. It exploded briefly and went to flame. He was burned by the flash on his face and neck, singed all the hair off his arms and melted skin on left thumb. No blistering so far anywhere except his left hand. He wont go to Dr. What should I do to treat him here? Thank you Tara Hankey
Hi there Tara.
I hear your problem & empathise with you.
However, burns is not something we should take lightly.
From what you say though, it appears that the burns are 1st degree or at most 2nd degree.
For starters, you could use a Betamethasone-Fusidic acid combination cream (Fucicort by Leo comes to mind) locally liberally on the lesions for the next 24-48 hrs. I find this reduces the blister formation & decreases sequelae like scarring et al & decreases the inflammation & pain. An addition of symptomatic Ibuprofen if there is pain would help to an extent.
Follow that up with Cicabio cream for a month & your husband should be as good as new with a free 'laser-like' effect of less hair (possibly permanent) in the singed regions!
Good Luck & Godspeed!
