What Treatment Should Be Given To A Patient With ICD Placed And Having Cough?

I am a nurse and have a pt who had an ICD placed mid December. While in the hospital he developed a cough that has not gone away. His cardiologist stopped his lisinopril and tried sulcrafate with no relief. Are there any other remedies? He is losing weight and has no edema.

Since you are a nurse, please check his pulse rate, and ask the doctor to listen for ronchi or crepts in his lungs(any where in the lung).I am sure fine creps must be there, signifying a small amount of fluid in the lungs causing a little CCF, which is in turn causing cough. You can start a deriphylline tablet, a neubilizer with salbutmol, and accompanied with oxygen attached to the neubilizer. Do this at a hospital where you can add some other drugs given IM/IV IF REQUIRED.
