What Type Of Myomectomy Is Advisable While Planning For Pregnancy?

My wife just gave birth thru a c-section, and we discovered she has multiple huge uterine fibroids. We only have one kid and would love to have more. We have been asked to come back for a surgery to remove it, but we are scared something might go wrong with her uterus during surgery. Please, what kind of myomectomy will you advise is safe for my wife?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Treatment may depend upon what type of fibroma it is. Is it single or multiple fibroids? It may associated any complications or age other risk factors.

Laparoscopic minimally invasive myomectomy is the laparoscopic fibroid removal is less invasive than abdominal myomectomy, and uses four incisions located in the pelvis and abdomen for removal of superficial and some deep fibroids.

Abdominal myomectomy or hysteroscopic myomectomy are the other procedures.

Please consult your gynecologist, she will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care.
