What Volume Of Water Consumption Lowers Urine Specific Gravity?

Since 2009 every urine test I have had run yields a low specific gravity, around 1.004-1.006. My doctor says it s because I drink too much water. I m not an athlete, and in my opinion I don t drink that much water. What volume of water would I have to be drinking each day to lower my specific gravity? I can t find a definitive answer anywhere. I asked to be tested for diabetes insipidus. My urine osmolality was 144 and my urine sodium was 18 and my blood sodium was 138.

Hello,

Your sodium level is also low. Water consumption depends upon the type of work of a person and environment temp and humidity. Try to take 3 litres per day and then get tested.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
