Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Husband had EKG about 9 years ago showing 2 vessels blocked about 45%. Treated with meds for lowering BP and cholesterol. He just had an abnormal stress test where the physician was amazed he did not have chest pain. Husband sent for urgent heart cath where we were told to expect stent(s). But Doctor found no blockages. 1. What explanation can there be for no blockages? 2. What would an abnormal stress test show if it were solely related to hypertension?
Spontaneous recanalization of blocked vessels can occur and the cholesterol-lowering drug might have helped. Hypertension can cause LVH with strain pattern on ECG. Diagnostic changes can that indicate myocardial Ischemia but do not prove the existence of coronary artery disease. Some normal individual will show apparent ST-segment depression in either a resting or post-exercise ECG. This is usually associated with tachycardia or anxiety (Pseudo-depression of ST segment).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
