What Would Cause Irregularity In Periods?

Hi, Im 20 years old, not sexually active or stressed as far as i know and over this last month ive been discharging brown. I finally got my period lasted 6 days stopped, the brown discharge followed and now only 4 days after my period is back. Do you know what could be the reason?
