What Would Create A Heavy Coating On My Tongue?

What would create a heavy coating on my tongue. I was on antibiotics for a week because I have (can't find the spelling) the intestine on the left size buldges with a sack of undigestive food? Wasn't really told want to do, I been eating smaller meals but still don't feel well. Always tired, that is not me, very high engery but not for the last 6 months. I am a woman 69 years old, have a small family business.

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query heavy coating on my tongue is because of presence of undigested food in your oral cavity in the form of acid reflux and due to antibiotics it is causing heavy coating there. There are chances of fungal infection in your oral cavity which could lead to thrush or candidiasis. I would suggest you to maintain proper oral hygiene. Visit general practitioner once and get it examined. Do rinses with Listerine mouth wash. Use tongue scraper to remove debris attached to tongue. Use antacids such as Pantaprazole and proton pump inhibitors. Do brushing and flossing on daily basis. Drink plenty of water.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain and the medical history of taking antibiotics the coating on tongue can be Oral Thrush or Oral Candidiasis..
It is an opportunist fungal infection and can be caused due to decrease in number of good bacteria of the mouth that resists infections along with the harmful one..

You should consult a Dentist and get evaluated as the clinical examination is sufficient in case of thrust due to hallmark features of Cheesy white to yellowish coating on tongue..

In case of thrush the dentist can advise you to take oral Fluconazole or Itraconazole as they are antifungal medicines.
Nystatin mouthwashes can help..
Antifungal lozenges can provide relief..
Take more of probiotics in diet like Yoghurt and Garlic..
Drink plenty of water to prevent dry mouth..
Consultation with Gastroenterologist and complete evaluation along with endoscopy to correctly rule out the reason for bulging in intestine and if needed then only antibiotics should be taken as Thrush will continue to relapse in case if antibiotics are taken continuously..

Hope this information helps..
