Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Hormone therapy for
prostate cancer is also called
androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) or
androgen suppression therapy.
The goal is to reduce levels of male hormones, called
androgens, in the body, or to stop them from affecting prostate cancer cells. Androgens stimulate prostate cancer cells to grow.
There are several types of hormone therapy that can be used to treat prostate cancer. Luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) agonists, LHRH antagonist, anti-androgens, estrogens, orchiectomy.
Each of these types of hormone therapy can produce specific side effects.
The are not specific herbal supplement that can resolve the problem of side effects.
My advice is to consult physically your father's treating doctor and discuss with him about the specific medication, the consecutive side effects and the possible solutions to ease the severity of these side effects.
Hope this information is helpful. Let me know if you have other doubts.
Take care.
