Cannot say. certainly if someone got meth or a meth like substance ON the hair (walking in a meth lab) then the levels would be high, far higher than from using meth. I have no idea if hair dyes/gels/shampoos have a meth like substance in them. There are no reports of this in the literature and no reports that anyone has looked for it. There are a huge number of common drugs that are chemically very similar to meth (all decongestants, many asthma medicines) while they probably will be distinguished from meth in hair analysis, I seem to have had a patient with a similar false positive.
