When Exposed To Sun, Lips Start To Itch Followed By Reddish And Swollen Lips. Underlying Cause?

Hello,
I'm a hispanic male with let's say "dark mocha" skin tone and tested negative for most allergens. I have noticed that after being exposed to the sun for 1+ hour(s) at a time, the outer part of my lips start to itch specially at the top lip. This is followed by reddish and swollen lips which lasts for about 2 days before the skin starts to pill off. Would this be a sign of a vitamin deficiency, lack of hydration or a herpes?

Hi,

Thanks for writing here.

It seems you are having actinic chelitis.

Start applying a lip balm contaning sunscrren at day time.

At night time you can apply a mild steroid like fluticasone for 1 to 2 weeks.

Eat fresh fruits,leafy vegetables.

Recurrent chelitis can be seen in lupus ,so it will be better to consult a dermatologist.

Hope this can solve your query.Take care.
