When Is A Reverse Total Shoulder Replacement Required?
I have just been told by an orthopedic surgeon that my MRI following rotator cuff surgery 20 months ago now shows complete withering/ retraction such that further repair is not possible. Can physical therapy really help develop other muscles to help compensate? Am I more prone now to arthritis? He mentioned a reverse shoulder replacement, but not now-- how will I know if I need one?

When Is A Reverse Total Shoulder Replacement Required?
Hello, A reverse total shoulder replacement works better for people with cuff tear arthropathy because it relies on different muscles to move the arm. Reverse total shoulder replacement relies on the deltoid muscle, instead of the rotator cuff, to power and position the arm. Please consult your orthopedician he will examine that which position is your joint and treat you accordingly. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
