When Is Best Time For Clinical Blood Test To Get Positive Pregnancy Result?

Doctor, i am on day 28 in my cycle. i took a home pregnancy urine test this morning and the result turned out to be negative. Is there chances of pregnancy still? i have 2 more days for my period cycle to start. but i feel i am pregnant. when will be the best time to take a clinical blood test to get a positive pregnancy test result?

Hi do the test after a missed period. In case you get a negative result after a missed period repeat after one week. The test detects Beta HCG levels in blood if blood HCG TEST is used. Another test kit is also available which detects same Beta HCG in urine. Beta HCG is a hormone whose level increases in pregnancy in order to maintain it till progesterone levels are high enough to maintain the pregnancy. So after a missed period Beta HCG test is done either in urine or blood. If the Beta HCG Levels are elevated to a amount detectable by the kit, it will show as positive which suggests that you are pregnant. However if the test is done very early in pregnancy, the Beta HCG levels may not be high enough to be detectable by the kit. That's why even after a missed period if you get the test result as negative, wait for a week and repeat the test. Further go to your gynaecologist for detailed evaluation.
