When Is It Recommended To Start Putting Weight On My Ankle After A Trimalleolar Fracture Surgery And Syndesmosis Repair?

I recently got a surgery for a trimalleolar ankle fracture as well as open reduction of the syndesmosis with a screw through the tibia to fibula. My orthopedic surgeon recommends non-weight bearing for 12 full weeks. However, from all the medical literature I can find, it seems that full weight bearing immediately after surgery is recommended with no increased risk of syndesmosis diastatis, loss of reduction, or fixation failure. When is it recommended to start putting weight on my ankle?
